The global financial crisis reveals the inherent shortcomings and instability of the current international monetary system. In the long-run, it has been a tendency to reform the failing system and make it lend order and stability to foreign exchange markets, encourage the elimination of balance-of-payments problems, and provide access to international credits in the event of disruptive shocks. For the emerging markets, the main question is how to play their own role in the next international monetary system reform?
