Abstract :
The severity of the practical and experimental limitations imposed on signal estimation and transformation can be reduced using windowing techniques. Choice of window type should be based on the nature of the system or signal under estimation. The application of the Dolph-Chebychev window to scale the frequency seems appropriate in reducing the ringing caused by truncating the frequency harmonics when used to evaluate the impulse response of the arterial system. Such window, which uses the Chebychev polynomial with the Dolph variable, is applied to the arterial input impedance prior to taking the inverse Fourier Transform (FT). This method, when tested on a Windkessel model produced a smooth estimate with reduced ripples
