Abstract :
In this paper, a modified Hough Transform (HT) for line segment extraction, namely Line Patterns Hough Transform (LPHT) is proposed. By using the concept of relative connectivity of points on a line segment, the end points of a line segment are voted in a 2-dimensional accumulator which has the same resolution as the image. Hence, the end points of the line segment can be directly extracted from the accumulator. Compared with the standard Hough Transform, this method has a shorter computing time, less memory required, higher accuracy; it is more robust and it can directly locate the end points of line segments
