Abstract
A hybrid algorithm (HA) that blends features of genetic algorithms (GAs) and simulated annealing (SA) was implemented for use in the design of single-layer microwave absorbers made from dielectric and magnetic materials. The HA incorporates a selection criterion based on SA into the basic structure of a GA. The ability of SA to search for the best candidate solutions was used in the crossover stage of the GA. In this way, the selection process in the GA no longer needs a whole population of candidate solutions, which improves the search ability and speed of the HA.
