Abstract :
This paper presents an efficient technique to improve the display update rate of a transputer-based vehicle simulator without substantially increasing the processing hardware. Such improvement is achieved by manipulating the image of the display section of the existing prototype to generate the subsequent image. Toward this end, a new hardware design for the display section is also proposed to minimise communication overhead incurred during the transfer of the large amount of rendered data. Performance measurements of the display section are also presented
