Abstract
Polarimetric fiber optic sensing is based on measurements of polarization changes of light transmitted inside single mode fiber affected by external phenomena. Polarimetric optic sensors are mainly used for static measurements of strain, stress and high pressure. In the paper the results of dynamic strain measurements of a steel rail by use of the polarimetric fiber optic sensors are presented. We can observe a quick response of optical fiber measuring system for changes of strain in the rail for different frequencies as well as wide range of dynamic amplitude changes
