  • Abstract
Summary form only given. The term “Fibre From The Home” signifies the paradigm shift away from the top-down, “Fiber To The Home” approach by national operators under strict regulation, to the present deregulated, independent new operator, bottom-up, infrastructure approach. The fundamental mechanisms that drive this development are; deregulation (new players, small-scale development), bandwidth need (Internet, new services), and IP (a common service infrastructure). This has given a new need for the fibre technologies (reliable bandwidth), as well as the possibility to start in a small scale, and it has caused entry of new players such as local operators and infrastructure
