Abstract :
This paper discusses issues of tuning, performance and interactions of PSS and FACTS controllers in a test power system. The controllers are placed in the system to control electromechanical oscillations (Hopf bifurcations) and the corresponding gains are tuned to observe their effect on oscillatory modes and overall system performance. Studies are carried out to compare performances of these controllers in a wide variety of operating and fault conditions. The damping introduced by individual controllers is compared with the combined performance of multiple controllers, showing possible negative interactions among them.
