  • Abstract
This paper deals with computer simulations of lightning return stroke current at lightning protection systems (LPS) of telecommunication centers. For this purpose, the transient current and voltage across: (a) the lightning channel; (b) the LPS; and (c) the ground system was made using TLM (transmission line modeling) and the electromagnetic field in its interior was calculated using the FDTD method (finite difference time domain). With the return stroke´s simulation, nonlinear parameters such as corona and skin effect, were taken into account. The LPS was considered as an interconnection of transmission lines and the ground system was included to compare the electromagnetic field generated in the interior
