  • Abstract
    This paper focuses on the state of electronic design automation (EDA) tools and discusses what must be done by the tool developers to provide a seamless transition from specification development to silicon fabrication (Spec2Si). There is no reason why existing gaps between tools can´t be bridged. Spec2Si represents an integrated tool set that is capable of reading in a specification and outputting a tape for the ASIC foundry. The challenge is to get several tool manufacturers and foundries to provide the interfaces and to make the alignments necessary for such a tool´s development
