  • Abstract
This paper describes a hierarchical simulation framework for modeling complex systems. We describe the implementation of the framework as a two-stage model in the specific case of a phone quality testing process; this is a real-life example based on a study for a major cell phone manufacturer. The framework is applicable when certain factors are difficult to integrate into the simulation model and the system can be studied conditional to these factors. The hierarchical model can be used for studying system behavior for all the factors; and inferring important/useful relationships for system design/parameter selection. A simple design parameter selection problem for the phone quality testing process is considered to exemplify this
