Abstract
The paper describes the approach proposed for teaching the Software Engineering stream of the new Bachelor of Information Technology degree currently being implemented at Central Queensland University. In addition, problems that have arisen in designing and implementing the new degree are discussed. Basically a project oriented approach over three semesters has been adopted for explicitly teaching software engineering. While this appears to allow adequate coverage of topics, significant problems arose concerning the integration of the three software engineering subjects with other subjects, particularly programming subjects
