Abstract
This paper presents a small signal model of the Flyback converter considering the High Pressure Sodium lamp (HPS) dynamic model. The modeling uses the averaged switch model methodology, which is well known by literature. However, the paper contribution is to consider the lamp dynamic in the modeling, which is not widely presented in the literature. System stability is also analyzed. Simulation results validate the proposed model. A constant power control strategy is also proposed in this paper. Simulations results of the closed-loop system and experimental results of the electronic ballast are presented.
