Abstract
The electromagnetic absorption characteristics of a hybrid absorber composed of NiZn ferrite cone arrays upon MnZn ferrite tile are described. The reflection loss for the normal incident electromagnetic wave is evaluated by considering the equivalent homogeneous multi-layered structure and the Hashin-Shtrikman formula. The absorber has a very broad absorption bandwidth in spite of its thin thickness: reflection loss of ⩽-20 dB in the frequency range from 30 MHz to 10 GHz with matching thickness of 5 cm. These characteristics are superior to those of the traditional dielectric/ferrite-tile hybrid structure
