Abstract
This work has two main goals. The first one is to propose a general approach to improve the quality of engineering education, based on a holistic approach with the motto Engineering fuels innovation. Secondly, we propose a concrete implementation of this approach in the form of a first year introductory course, aiming to introduce the students to biological knowledge and to challenge and motivate them to foster their creative and innovative abilities.
