Abstract :
Rapid magnetization proterties of Co-based amorphous cores have been investigated. Times-to-saturation were as short as 150ns. Losses were in proportion to /spl int/v/sup 2/ dt, where v is voltage applied per turn. A simple resistor model was then proposed to describe them. Figures of merit were introduced from this model to compare various soft magnetic materials. The Co-based amorphous cores were found to be suitable for the magnetic pulse compression circuit because of their low losses.
