Abstract :
This paper presents an analysis of the relationship between the launcher current pulse shape and the energy demand at the launcher terminals. The results show that, for a given muzzle energy, reducing the peak current and peak acceleration tends to increase both the jerk and the electrical energy demand. Thus some form of design compromise is necessary to balance the conflicting requirements of low peak acceleration and low jerk.
