Abstract
The authors outline requirements for the development of statistical process control software that can be effectively utilized by manufacturing operators with limited computer experience and statistical knowledge. Topics that contribute to the application´s success, such as customer education, balance between the statistician and manufacturing-operator needs, flexibility to change in the working environment, and customer feedback, are discussed. Creation of chart parameters, data entry, and chart viewing are also considered
