Abstract
There has been a continuous evolution of signal processing circuitry, which can be characterized by different schemes for representing the signal. Throughout this development highly specialized architectures have been used to implement the various algorithms and this approach remains necessary, even in this era of the microprocessor, as the algorithms become evermore complex.
