  • Abstract
It is pointed out that an important convergence is taking place between video and computing. As the United States proceeds into high-definition television and the next generation of computer technologies, there will be a fundamental difference in the pattern of interaction between the two. Computing once borrowed heavily from television and other consumer electronic technologies, and in the future consumer electronics will require more processing power and capabilities. Thus, television and other consumer electronic products will begin to borrow more heavily from computing technology. It is believed that television and home computers will not converge into a single product. Specific systems illustrating such developments are discussed.<>
