Abstract
The design and testing of a fast, compact, 1.2 MV, 3 KJ Marx generator is described. The generator is SF6 insulated, has 12 very low inductance capacitors specially developed by Thomson-CSF, and needs only the triggering of one spark gap to achieve very fast rise time. The generator conceptual design and the experimental results on a 50 ohm characterization load are given in some details.
