Abstract :
A novel type of image transducer consisting of an organic electroluminescent (EL) diode on a photoconductive amorphous silicon carbide (a-SiC:H) film has been successfully designed. It performs efficient light up-conversion from red to green with quantum conversion of 1% with the assistance of the photocurrent multiplication in a-SiC:H film. The EL output under red light irradiation can be modulated by superimposing ultraviolet light. By using the photoconductive semiconductor having a much smaller band gap, infrared-to-visible light conversion will be possible.<>
