Abstract
Wideband and narrowband statistical modeling of radio power in an indoor environment is presented using ray-tracing (RT) software. The power delay profile, which represents the wideband characteristics, is estimated from the irregularly discrete channel profiles generated by the RT using three different techniques. The shape of the profile is found to be dependent on the location of the receiver. The amplitude of the individual path is shown to be a log-normal random variable. A new method is proposed to predict the received power, which represents the narrowband characteristics, based on the statistical description of the RT simulation. A comparison between the RT prediction and the new method shows a great deal of agreement
