Abstract
A recent examination of four genres used at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory showed that genres in STEM workplaces sometimes vary significantly from ones taught in standard technical communication courses. We need to teach our STEM students how to identify genres used in their respective fields so that they can successfully complete writing assignments once they enter the workforce.
