  • Abstract
In this paper we present the novel mechanism for the selection of candidate nodes for hybrid MANET - DTN based on trust computed from routing parameters in order to provide cognitive communication. The selected candidate node is node in which it is expected that comes into contact with other mobile nodes and in this way it can transport data between different network areas. For this reason, we designed the mechanism for secure candidate node selection. Based on idea of hybrid MANET - DTN, we also need to include the security issues during selection. In our proposal the trust involves monitoring of the routing and forwarding traffic and based on collected and recorded data, the mechanism can compute the level of trust for all communicating mobile nodes. The performance analysis of the proposed mechanism in simulation environment is introduced too. We are focused on network point of view and then network performance is analyzed. The proposed mechanism is implemented to the simulation OPNET modeler.
