Abstract
The move to adopt the modular, open-systems approach to SATCOM development has led to open-standards interfaces both for hardware buses and software infrastructure. A software development methodology is presented that enhances the standard Unified Modeling Language (UML)-based object-oriented modeling and design for SATCOM Terminal development. The scope of the SATCOM terminal architecture is also enhanced with the service-oriented architecture (SOA) in order to facilitate easier use, greater flexibility, increased platform independence and greater adherence to industry standards.
