Abstract
Home security surveillance system using sensors, webcam and monitors may reduce losses caused by an intruder in today´s world. This paper presents a home security surveillance system called `Coeus Security System´ that is built using Lego Mindstorms NXT programmable bricks, sensors, a web camera and a computer system capable of running MATLAB to ensure home security. The system uses Bluetooth protocol for communication with the robot. The system detects any suspicious motion or sound and immediately notifies the owner of the house by sending an e-mail with attachments of the motion detection as well as a notification via SMS thereby helping the owner to take appropriate timely action.
