Abstract :
Todays telecommunication and Internet services will not stop at e-commerce but will evolve into other domains such as electronic services for communities, and further, into electronic services for cultures. Present providers deliver mutually independent services, but within a very short time these services will be combined and collaborated over a network into a single service realizing the idea of global computing. In future, services will be self-organized for pursuing human needs in communities and cultures. According to this bold vision, leading Japanese and European industries have built an open service collaboration platform (OSCAR) on top of which single services can be combined to form value-added services. To provide the components of this comprehensive platform recent development technologies including the upcoming model driven architecture of the OMG have been applied. This paper reflects on the application scenarios for OSCAR and presents its architecture and development techniques used to develop the components
