Abstract

The informetric modeling of the cognitive structure of science is a timely research program with various applications, called science mapping. The work presented below is aiming at a novel methodology complementing a recent science map based on the Web of Science databases. We present a socalled interdisciplinarity map of science, that facilitates the exploration of the cognitive connections between large science domains, including the large-scale dynamics of interdisciplinarity within the science system. Our special interest is the application of this tool in exploring related trends for the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH).
