Abstract
In this paper, we describe the first deployment, commissioning and field testing of a commercial platform, on a terrestrial link between Perth and Adelaide, Australia. The results demonstrate the robustness of soliton-based transmission over ultra-long-haul (ULH) distances using commercial equipment and clearly show the operating margin of such systems on modern standard single-mode fibre.
