Abstract
UWB technology in radar allows for a very high accuracy ranging, rigidity to multi-path propagation and external EMI. If added to high-cross range resolution capabilities, ultra-wide operational bandwidth can be also used to obtain high-resolution images of targets. As a next step, image-based classification of detected targets can be done. In this paper different approaches to high-resolution imaging with UWB radars are discussed and compared. Examples of system architecture are given. Possible image-based features of targets are discussed and examples of image-based target classification are presented.
