Abstract :
In BC Hydro (Canada), fault recorders and system monitors have provided evidence of an increasing level of harmonics and revealed some cases of power system resonance. Also, there have been an increasing number of protective alarms, tripping of overloaded filters and unexpected high levels of harmonic currents in shunt capacitors, cables and lines. This paper describes BC Hydro´s experience with one of the harmonic resonance problems in the Southern Vancouver Island power system
