Abstract
Software maintenance and testing is an important part of the curriculum for any software engineering programme. However no conclusion can be reached as to the format and timing of any software maintenance and testing project. This would be dependent on the nature of the software engineering project(s) undertaken in the course and the balance of the subjects, tools and topics appearing in the coursework. Certainly such topics as change control, configuration management, and testing strategies and techniques should be taught as formal lecture material and backed up by practical experiences where feasible
