Abstract :
This paper investigates the effect of induction motor rotor eccentricity on the surge test data. It points out that rotor eccentricity makes surge waveform rotor-position dependent. In this way air gap abnormality can be seen clearly without the use of high-frequency data sampling and high-resolution spectral analysis, but still in a completely unobtrusive manner. This detection method is reliable with minimal noise interference. Experimental results validate the analysis and the feasibility of the proposed detection scheme
