Abstract :
One way to reduce the intercell interference in cellular networks is not to transmit strong signals from the cell borders towards the access points directly but rather to relay such transmissions to other users or relays within the cell by using much lower signal levels. This will produce much less interference in adjacent cells. For this reason, we present an intercell interference aware (IIA) network utility maximization (NUM) motivated, design of relaying protocols in cognitive cellular networks that jointly optimizes relaying topology, routing and scheduling resulting in two dimensional or space time routing protocol. The low level of transmitted signals makes the solution attractive for low probability of intercept (LPI) applications required in military systems.
