Abstract
24 GHz ultra-wide band short-range radar sensors are designed to improve safety and comfort functions in automotive applications. For cost-effective production these sensors can be manufactured as SiGe radar sensors. For an improved ACC functionality the 77 GHz long-range radar is combined with 24 GHz UWB short-range radar. This sensor fusion allows the detection of objects in the near surroundings of the vehicle thus enabling ACC Stop&Go in urban traffic. This paper describes the current status of SRR sensors in automotive applications.
