Abstract :
A set of global dynamic regulation performance indices is proposed. The indices have a clear engineering background and physical meaning, and are defined in the state space from the geometric characteristics on the regulation response to a normalized initial disturbance. The necessity of defining the performance indices and their advantages are presented. The calculation for the performance indices is easy. The effect of the system eigenvalues and eigenvectors on the global dynamic regulation performance indices is discussed. The geometric intuitive analysis is achieved. With the developed performance indices, the optimal eigenstructure of the control system is discussed
