Abstract :
DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a radio access technology defined inside ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). The standard provides the users with both voice and data services via radio access to both fixed and mobile radio networks. Based on the first release of a software package, named DECTSIM, developed according to DECT specifications, this paper reports radio chain performance evaluation of the present system. The results are reported in terms of BER (bit error rate) for DECT voice service. Propagation models coming from CSELT field measurements have been considered and, as far as the receiver scheme is concerned, non-coherent detection based on frequency discriminator has been simulated. Moreover, DECTSIM is being developed in order to take into account enhancement features, in terms of higher data rate services and equalisation techniques
