Abstract
In this paper, a low power consumption thermo-optical switch is presented on SOI platform. The switch power consumptions for TE mode and TM mode are 0.49 mW and 1.1 mW, respectively. And the extinction ratios are 23.0 dB and 14.3 dB for TE/TM mode, respectively. The switch time is about 266 μs for both modes, including 144 μs rise time and 122 μs fall time. Compared to the similar switch with conventional structure, our presented switch can reduce more than 98% the power consumption.
