Abstract
Recent development in high power sources and ultra fast switches made it possible to develop ultra wide-band radar which have potential applications in surface and foliage penetration, detection of low radar cross section targets in clutter and also identification of target. This paper presents different ultra wide-band waveforms. The generations of the waveforms are based on Fourier series expansion of the desired waveforms. In order to investigate the potential of each waveform, the radar ambiguity function will be derived. The range-velocity resolution functions are obtained analytically and are presented by a three-dimensional surface as a function of both time delay and Doppler time representing range and velocity, respectively
