Abstract
This paper extends previous work on time reversal (TR) imaging for microwave breast cancer detection, by applying for the first time the decomposition of the time reversal operator (DORT, by the French acronym) to a case of multiple tumors. In particular, a numerical study, combining information from the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the multistatic data matrix (MDM) and the finite difference time domain (FDTD) TR algorithm of (P. Kosmas and C. Rappaport, 2005), is presented. The study confirms established theory on the DORT method, and shows that selective focusing can be achieved without a full reconstruction of the time-domain eigenvectors of the time reversal operator.
