Abstract :
When talking about data, information, knowledge and wisdom we usually have a vague understanding on the concepts that are described by these terms. However, their relationships and dependencies can-and usually have to-be described from different perspectives in order to cover most of their facets. In this paper, we try to give an overview of some fundamental aspects that we have to consider. This involves brief discussions of semiotics, as well as information, communication and transmission . Furthermore, we provide some thoughts about the involved fuzziness when analysing the different interrelationships of these concepts.
