Abstract :
Visual queries based on schema graphs simplify the access to databases for technical and non-technical users who are not familiar with the database structure and don´t want to use a formal language. We propose an assisting visual query interface for object-oriented databases called O2Talk. The work is motivated by the successful adaptation of the visual query paradigm in the conventional database area. This graphical query representation system, facilitates the user´s tasks of formulating database queries compared with linear textual query representations. The adopted human-computer interaction techniques in this visual query system and different graphical queries through a number of illustrative examples are also described
