Abstract :
One of the most exciting applications of millimeter-wave engineering and compound semiconductor technology is instrumentation for radio astronomy. It is a field rich with unique technical challenges and innovative solutions. This paper presents an overview of some of the circuits and systems that have been developed for the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA), a large radio telescope currently under construction in northern Chile.
