Abstract
In this paper, we present a method to design and optimize low-profile high-gain microwave antennas that utilize a double-sided frequency-selective surface (FSS) on a single superstrate. In this method, the Q-factor of a microwave resonant cavity, between the FSS and the ground plane, is optimized so that a high Q-factor is achieved, giving rise to a high antenna gain.
