Abstract :
With the continuing rapid growth in communications networks for use in a wide range of commercial and consumer applications, the siting of antennas on the external surfaces of buildings is becoming an ever increasing problem. Apart from aesthetic concerns, permission to place antennas on suitable surfaces is often difficult to obtain, particularly for users of rented office space, and the cost of the installation can be prohibitive. The ability to locate antennas inside a building with minimal performance degradation is therefore of great interest. This paper describes a technique to cancel reflections from building structures which can substantially improve the propagation through them. As an example, reducing the impact of a double glazed window on a 35 GHz fixed link antenna using a single inductive matching grid is presented
