Abstract
This paper considers several applications of microstructured polymer optical fibres (mPOF) which rely on the properties of the polymer. These include strain sensing using single-mode mPOF inscribed with long period gratings, the use chiral materials to make circularly birefringent fibres, combinations of polymers to study novel fibre designs and the use of novel polymers for THz waveguides.
