Abstract
An efficient collision detection scheme based on component technology using oriented bounding box trees is presented. Firstly, model is divided into parts and then a component hierarchical tree is built in a bottom-up manner using the OBB of these parts. In order to construct component OBB of two parts quickly, a simple way to compute two OBBs´ convex hull is also proposed. As a result, not only parts´ constraints are satisfied but also the issues of low speed in building and refitting the hierarchical bounding volume trees are solved.
