Abstract :
Of particular interest to traditional and new cable television network operators, currently owning or building broadband delivery networks to provide broadcast television services, is the development of the network to service demand oriented and interactive voice, video, and data services over the broadband infrastructure. As these services represent a potential competitive advantage in the future for cable companies, it is important that network builds and evolution plans take into account the needs for such services. The base network built today must be capable of supporting these services in the future with little or no re-arrangement or re-work costs, whilst smoothly and cost-effectively incrementing the platform required to support these services when required in the future. The paper discusses what these new services are, and how TeleWest´s current distribution network architecture and build will support them, using an actual service example applied to the network to show the reader the ability of the network to be able to deploy these new services
