Abstract :
This paper compares and evaluates various adaptive load balancing policies under the practical conditions by using simulation methods. The authors take account of the cost of collecting and reacting to state information and the dynamic delay caused by the congestion of network traffic as well as the cost of process migration. Their results provide convincing evidence that the benefit of several adaptive load balancing policies can in fact be realized in practice
